Minister of Information under the Nana Addo administration Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said that the President never promised to build a hospital in each district within a year.
Reacting to rumours that the President promised to build a hospital for each district in Ghana within a year, the Information Minister noted that the President never said that and there is no record to show he said that.
”The President never said that. And there is no record to show he said that. I challenge anyone who has a tape to effect to come out”. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah dared Ghanaians while speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Hello FM.
As part of the President’s vision in improving the health system in the country, the government is set to construct 111 District Hospitals, six regional hospitals and two psychiatric hospitals.
President Akufo-Addo didn’t say he will build and complete it by now. 111 district Hospitals will commence on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The provision will also see to the provision of two specialized hospitals, one for the middle belt and one for the Northern part, these are the psychiatric hospitals and then redevelopment of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital”, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated.
”It is programmed to take between 12 months to complete each one. The project implementation committee chaired by Chief of Staff Madam Akosuah Frema Osei Opare has currently secured 88 of the 101 sites”, he added.
