A clash between residents of Ampatano and Kamfakrom has led to five people sustaining gun shot wounds.
Both communities are reported to be farming communities in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region of Ghana.
The incident according to the assemblyman of Asemasa electoral area, Jude Kamfa was as a result of a mobile phone theft case which took place on 29th July 2021.
He explained that some youth from Kamfakrom allegedly attacked a woman who is from Ampatano village then stole her phone while on her farm but unfortunately for them they were arrested and taken to the chief’s Palace.
The assemblyman went on to say that he was called to pick the suspects to the police station but he suggested that they were taken to the police station since he wasn’t around but residents of Kamfakrom blocked the road the leads to Ampatano to prevent the suspects from getting arrested.
He further said that he reported the case to the Agona Nkwanta police command but was told there was no police car available so he charted a taxi and was accompanied by five policemen. The suspected were arrested but later brought back to the town on bail.
He noted that on 31st July 2021, a youth from Kamfakrom threatened who will go to Kamfakrom school. This didn’t sit well with Ampatano youths who pursued Kamfakrom youth leading to five sustaining gunshot wounds.
He added that residents of Kamfakrom blocked roads by preventing commercials cars from operating despite Agona Nkwanta Police Command as well as SWAT visiting the town.
