Tunisia’s leader, Kais Saied on Sunday July 25, 2021 suspended parliament and excused Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi following a day of fights against the ruling government.
On Sunday July 25, a huge number of Tunisians had walked in a few urban areas challenging the Islamist-enlivened Ennahdha party, condemning what they said were government disappointments in the North African country and a devastating Coronavirus cases.
Fights were accounted for in the towns of Gafsa, Kairouan, Monastir, Sousse and Tozeur. After Saied reported parliament’s suspension following a crisis meeting, the hints of vehicle horns and firecrackers filled the roads.
Kais who suspended the immunity of individuals from parliament, demanded his activities were in accordance with the constitution. He said in a proclamation continued state media;
”Many people were deceived by hyprcrisy, treachery and robbery of the rights of the people.
I warn any who think of resorting to weapons and whoever shots a bullet, the armed forces will respond with bullets”.
Anyway Tunisian Parliament Speaker, Rached Ghannouchi blamed President Saied for dispatching “an upset against the unrest and constitution” after the move.
”We consider the institutions to be still standing and supporters of Ennahdha and the Tunisian people will defend the revolution, Ghannouchi, who heads Ennahdha, told the Reuters news agency via a phone call.”
Since Saied was chosen president in 2019, he has been secured a standoff with Mechichi and parliament speaker Rached Ghannouchi, a contention that has impeded the appointment of ministers.
