A 38-year-old man has suffered machete wounds from his 17-year-old son for cutting his wife with machete on her body in Nkran in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The 38-year-old Thomas Peprah and Joyce Tei are said to have been married with five kids and are farmers.
Thomas is reported of constantly accusing his wife of infidelity since she delivered their last born who is just 8-months old. He claims that all 5 children may not be his biological children.
Thomas reportedly woke his wife at dawn around 4:30PM on 15th July to question his wife over issues of infidelity. This was said to have led to a misunderstanding between the couple of which the accused pulled a knife from under their bed which he had being hiding there for a while and inflicted wound on the victim.
The victim screamed for help but the accused had locked the gate to the room where they were to prevent anyone from rescuing the woman.
Their 17-old son was sleeping in a different room and upon hearing the wails of his mom rushed to another tenant for help and the door was broken.
The young teenager reportedly overpowered his father, took the cutlass from him then inflicted deep cuts on him before he was able to rescue his mother.
The victim was rushed to the St. Peter’s hospital but was later referred to Komfo Anokye hospital where she is receiving treatment on admission.
The man was also rushed to St. Peter’s hospital by police who rushed to the scene. He was treated and discharged on 18th July 2021.
He was charged with causing harm and arraigned before Bekwai Circuit Court on 23rd July but was remanded into custody to appear again in court on 29th July 2021.
