President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has said that most Ghanaians have left their guards down owing from the data released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on the covid-19.
Speaking on the spate of the covid-19 spread, the President said; “we have let our guard down, with many going about their daily duties in clear breach and disregard for the protocols.”
The President stressed that the is a need to contain the outbreak of covid-19 especially now that the economy of Ghana is bouncing back.
Addressing the nation on 25th July 2020, the President stated that as a nation we cannot afford to return to the days of partial lockdown that brought difficulties and hardship in the country.
The president noted that the high compliance rate with mask wearing has fallen alarmingly. He revealed that strict conformity with covid-19 protocols will be enforced.
“There are no exceptions to this rule, and strict conformity with this protocol will be enforced. Anyone found to be flouting this directive will have him or herself to blame. We cannot afford to allow the recklessness of a few to endanger the lives of the majority of persons in the country.”
He continued to say that it’s unfortunate that the per the data available from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) Ghana is expecting a third wave of Covid-19 virus.
As per data available from the Ghana Health Service, it appears that, unfortunately, our nation is experiencing a third wave of COVID-19 infections.
“These increased infections have largely been driven by the Delta Variant of the virus, which, according to the World Health Organization, has increased transmissibility rates, and, in our case in Ghana, has led, in recent weeks, to a rise in hospitalization and ICU bed uptakes, and, tragically, deaths.
