A 65-year-old man identified as Mark Koranteng has been arrested by Begoro police in the Eastern Region for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
He is the Dademantse of Mpanmu near Dedeso.
Reports indicates that the parents of the defiled young girl stated that they noticed strange changes and symptoms of pregnancy on their daughter.
The parent of the victim narrated that the accused asked someone to call the victim for him to send on an errand but rather took advantage of her in February 2021.
Parents of the victim stated that the accuse who use to call the victim ”my wife” allegedly had his way with the young girl after the first incident the same month.
They were said to have reported the case to the Begoro Police but the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit in Koforidua.
A medical report endorsed by a doctor which was issued to the victim indicates that indeed she is pregnant.
The accused was arrested and has confirmed inviting the victim twice to his house for money but claims he never had his way with her.
He has been granted bail by the Koforidua Circuit court but to reappear in court on 26th July 2021.
