Latest information picked up by Pinaxnews.com indicates that the Environmental Health Officers of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly have closed down the Las Palmas eatery over breaching sanitation rules. As the the information, AMA paid a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle branch of the famous restaurant, which gets many benefactors day in and day out.
Head of Public Health at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Florence Kuukyi, referred to the inaccessibility of a devoted latrine office for the facility, despite the fact that few of the workers there lives at the premises.
Different reasons incorporated the unsanitary conditions under which the food sold at the restaurant was being made. Likewise, none of the workers had the option to show a clinical declaration qualifying them to offer food to the public.
Nonetheless, it arose that the workers are new staff who have not yet taken the test. This adds to the offenses noted by the AMA group. They consequently gave a closure notice to the administrator which takes effect on Thursday, July 22, 2021, until steps have been taken to address the sanitation problem.
This is what the Director of Public Health at AMA, Florence Kuukyi had to say;
”We are closing it down. First, because of the conditions under which they cook and sell the food. Look at the net above us, it had been overtaken by dust and webs, and this is where they cook the food. So anything at all could fall into the food and no one would know.
Also, contrary to the AMA by-laws 2017, they don’t have a toilet facility here. Some of the sleep in this building. It’s not far to think that when they are pressed, they do it in the polythene bags and fly them outside”.
