Six people have been apprehended by the Asante Akyem North Police for piercing a cane into the anus of an alleged 16-year-old thief who broke into a shop in Agogo in the Asante Akyem North Municipality.
The 16-year-old is said to have allegedly broke into the shop but unfortunately got caught and his legs tied.
The human act stormed social media and the perpetrators got arrested.
On Monday July 12, 2021 the District Police Commander for Asante Akyem North, Chief Superintendent Owusu Bempah said after he watched the video, he made some analysis and spoke with some residents of Agogo, hence leading to the arrest of the six.
Speaking on Akoma FM’s ‘GhanaAkoma’ show he said one of the suspects, a 79-year-old Francis Obeng Amoako disclosed that after they inserted the stick in the young boy’s anus they untied him and he removed the stick before leaving.
The Konogo Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Shaibu named the other suspects as Kofi Asadu, aged 29, Obeng Mensah aged 30, Osei Bonsu aged 53, Boakye Dankwa aged 65 and Kwasi Marfo aged 24.
The suspects have been remanded into police custody until next hearing on July 27, 2021.
