The Forestry Commission’s former Head of Monitoring Unit Charles has descended heavily on NPP’s Abronye DC and some NDC MPs who have threatened to sue the government over it’s decision to pay Rebecca Akufo and Samira Bawumia.
Speaking on Peace FM ‘Kokrokoo’ show Charles Owusu quizzed the numerous people who have stood against the payment of First and Second Lady in the country whether Ghanaians will die or have life if the salaries are canceled.
”If we cancel the payment of the First Ladies, what will happen in this country? will it cause people to die or have life?
He stressed that some MPs who have gone to court to sue the government over salaries for First and Second Lady have done so because they are being paid already adding that the fact that those MPs have gone to court doesn’t mean government will decide not to have a budget for the First and Second Lady’s office.
NDC’s MP Sam George reacting to the salaries of the First and Second Lady has said that plans to pay the spouses of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia is not necessary because the nation needs money for more pressing issues.
He stressed that he is a member of Parliament and he doesn’t buy into spouses of the President and Vice President being paid because they are not public officers but wives. He quizzed if the nation is also going say the spouse of the speaker of Parliament should also get paid.
