GBA Demands Sanctions Against Cruel Security Officers

The Ghana Bar Association reacting to the conduct of security personnel in Ghana in recent times has referred to it as ‘cruel and unacceptable’.

In a statement issued by the Association on Thursday 8th July, it stated that security personnel in Ghana must execute their duties with professionalism and under no circumstance should they subject the ordinary citizens to brutalities.

”Under no circumstances should operatives of the Security Agencies under the pretext of maintaining peace, manhandle and assault people or use physical force which sometimes leads to death of victims”.

The GBA has asked that the investigations being conducted in brutalities in the country be thorough, fair and swift. The association added that those found guilty should be punished.

In the statement signed by the GBA’s National President Anthony Forson Jnr and National Secretary Yaw Acheampong Boafo condemned the actions of the military that culminated in the lose of lives and injuries of others during the Ejura disturbance.
