Former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho has said that since the demise of former President Evans Fiifi Atta Mills 9 years ago, his emolument hasn’t been paid.
He noted that the former President should have been paid salaries as well as given an office but that hasn’t seen the light of the day since his demise.
‘President Evans Atta Mill’s emolument hasn’t been paid. If he were alive he would have been entitled to an office, and an emolument but that hasn’t been paid up until now.” Anyidoho stated.
He made this revelation while speaking on Onua TV’s ‘Maakye’ show on Friday.
Touching on the issue of paying the spouses of President and vice president that has raised public uproar, he stated that all these is an issue of the 1992 Constitution. He stressed that Professor Mills once said that the something ought to be done about the Constitution because it will haunt us since its a living document.
Mr. Anyidoho says the late President Mills wanted the 1992 constitution an that is how come he brought the Constitutional Review Commission.
He added that the First and Second Lady of Ghana have to be given an office by the state and the issue of their salaries discussed passionately.
