Member of Parliament for Ningo Pampram constituency, Sam George maybe heading to court following news on the salaries that will paid the wives of the President and Vice President dated back to 2017.
According to the NDC MP plans to pay the spouses of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia is not necessary because the nation needs money for more pressing issues.
He made this comment after the government decided to adopt a recommendation by an emolument committee that has long been approved by Ghana’s seventh Parliament.
Speaking on Neat FM’s, ‘Ghana Montie’ show Sam George noted that this development was never approved by the seventh Parliament.
He stressed that he is a member of Parliament and he doesn’t buy into spouses of the President and Vice President being paid because they are not public officers but wives. He quizzed if the nation is also going say the spouse of the speaker of Parliament should also get paid.
”I am a member of Parliament, personally I do not buy the idea, whether it is an NDC President or NPP President, your wife doesn’t hold any public office but a wife,” he stated.
Mr. Sam George threatened to go to court on the matter because he is against it and doesn’t subscribe to it.
He added that he is against it and not in anyway in support of it.
