The Vice-Chairman of Finance Committee of Parliament, Patrick Yaw Boamah has said that the criticisms hurled at the $28million loan tabled by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Attah before Parliament on Tuesday 7th July 2021 is a misplaced or unfair critisms.
He is of the view the Parliament is the only arm of government where MPs buy and fuel their own cars.
The MP for Okaikoi Central made this comment when Ken Ofori-Atta presented before Parliament a $28million interest-free loan for law makers to take loans with the National Investment Bank but was welcomed with criticisms from the public.
Per the rules regarding the loan, the MPs are supposed to repay the loan within four years.
Mr. Boamah while speaking to the press urged his colleagues to reject the deal in order to allow the state to buy the MPs official cars just as it does ministers and some members of executive and judiciary.
Speaking to Ibrahim Alhassan, Mr. Boamah said that he sees no reason why MPs should receive public backlash because of the loan facility while other arms of government enjoy vehicles without going through any process.
He added that the public is busily criticizing the members of parliament without asking why the executives and judiciary get vehicles without going through loans.
