Ashanti Regional Minister Must Act Responsibly And Resign-Security Analyst, Adib

Security Analyst Adib Saani has reacted to comments made by the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah when he first appeared before the 3-member Committee of Inquiry.

When the Ashanti Regional Minister on Tuesday appeared before the Committee of Inquiry of which Nana Addo instructed the Interior Minister Ambrose Derry to set a Committee to probe the Ejura disturbance, he refused to mention the identity of the military men who opened fire on protestors who were unarmed.

The Minister also admitted that indeed he was the one who deployed the military to go to Ejura to restore order.

Reacting to the Minister’s comment when he appeared before the committee, Adib Saani has asked the Minister to resign from his position as the chairman of REGSEC and the Ashanti Regional Minister he acted in a bad faith as well as responsible for the bad things that happened to the people of Ejura.

He stressed that the Minisyter took a decision without consulting anyone and has also refused to give information on who alerted him about the disturbance happening in Ejura.

Mr. Saani added that Mr. Osei-Mensah has no idea the identity of military personnel who fired the two unarmed protestors and that is the reason the Ejura disturbance needs proper investigation.
