Fuel Station Attendant Jailed 8 Years For Faking Robbery

Abodea Mensah Alex, a fuel station attendant who works with Puma filling station at Sefwi Dwenase in the Western Region of Ghana has been sentenced to serve 8 years jail term with hard labour for faking a robbery attack on himself.

30-year-old Abodea on 20th May 2021 was asked to deposit an amount of Ghs43,156.70 at Republic Bank, the Sefwi Dwenase branch at exactly at exactly 1:50 PM.

The accused person was said to have called the office hours later claiming to have been attacked by some unknown gunmen who took the men from him and bolted.

However upon investigation by the police, it was found that Mr. Abodea gave someone an amount of Ghs5200 from the money he claimed had been robbed off him to send home for him then took the person’s motorbike which he promised to return shortly.

The owner of the motorbike requested for it later but the accused person told him to take the money with him as payment for his bike even though he hasn’t hinted on selling it with claim that the police had taken it from him after he reported the robbery incident.

He is said to have again sent the owner of the motorbike Ghs3,000 to replace the motor because he had been attacked by some gun-wielding men and so there was a need for a new one to be purchased.

The police found out the accused person’s stories were all cooked up after investigating the case.
