Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC) Nana Akomea has expressed excitement over Ghana being ranked 2nd most peaceful country in Africa by Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) in the Global peace index report.
Not only is Ghana the 2nd most peaceful country in Africa but it was also ranked 38th most peaceful country in the world out of 163 countries.
Speaking on Peace FM’s ‘Krokokoo’ show, Nana Akomea noted that there is no doubt that Ghana is second most peaceful in Africa owing from the kind of neighbours the country has and the insecurity levels in such countries.
”There are 54 countries in Africa and so if we have the second position, to say that we cannot compare ourselves to dwarfs is not fair. There are 54 countries in Africa. It’s not only Nigeria. Senegal is in Africa. Cote d’Ivoire is in Africa; Egypt is in Africa . . . The fact that, out of 54 countries, there is turmoil and there is no turmoil here is credit, very big credit. Out of 54 countries in Africa and we’re second, it’s big-time credit and that credit should encourage us, not demoralize us,” he stated.
He called on the police to execute their work properly in a bid to maintain law and order in the country so as not to destroy Ghana’s record.
