The Assin South District police command has arrested a 54-year-old man identified as Benjamin Acquaa popularly known as Kwame Ntori for allegedly killing his 2-day-old daughter for contracting syphilis infection.
According to Assin South District Police Commander, DSP Okyere Andam, Kwame Ntori is someone who has worked in the Hospital before so after going through his baby’s folder realized that the baby had contracted syphilis. He then tried convincing his wife Felicia Akesse so they eliminate the baby with claims that the baby will disturb them because of the infection.
His wife disagreed but later the 54-year-old man asked to carry the baby around to catch some fresh air only to return minutes later with the baby wrapped in a cloth dead.
He suggested to bury the baby but the wife disagreed initially but subsequently agreed under duress.
Reports indicates that the wife who is the compliant started following her husband who headed to Assin Kyinaso cemetery to bury the baby but her husband upon realizing that the wife is spying on him decided to go back home for the burial at the back of their house.
The woman later asked the husband where he buried the child but told the wife he buried the baby at the back of the house but realized animals are feeding on the baby so he dug it and dumped it in a public laterine.
It is reported that the wife suspects the husband of selling the baby because he has still not been able to show the police investigative team exactly where he buried the baby.
The incident happened last year somewhere November but the complainant reported the incident few days ago.
