Government Running Away From Accountability-Minority Alleges

Following the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s failure show up in Parliament on Thursday to provide answers on how much President Akufo-Addo’s latest foreign trips cost the taxpayer, Ghana’s minority in Parliament has accused government of running away from accountability.

The Minister of Finance Ken was supposed to show up in Parliament to answer questions on the president’s recent trips instead he has requested for more time.

This is after it emerged that the president in his recent trip spent £15,000 per hour for using a private jet instead of the presidential jet. This attracted a lot of criticisms from Ghanaians especially the minority in parliament.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa says the delay strategy appear to be efforts to hide the truth.

“Now we’ve brought them to a more appropriate forum where they are constitutional bound to be accountable and there are all of these delayed tactics.” he stated.
