Free SHS Must Be Sustained; We Have No Choice-Says Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has said that the free SHS Policy initiated by the Nana Addo led administration must be sustained in the country.

He says the Free SHS policy is a constitutional requirement so the country has no choice than to continue to sustain it. He made this comment when he was asked if the policy is sustainable.

“We have to; it’s a constitutional provision. We have no choice. We have to find the resources,” he stated on Kwesi on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ show.

He noted that the Free SHS policy has some challenges that needs attention.

“The whole world is moving towards electric cars . . . If you are thinking about free SHS over a long period of time forever and so on, oil and gas is not an alternative. Yes, for now, it will help us but 10 years later, it won’t help us. So, oil and gas is also not an alternative,” he said.

He advised the government to use the country’s resources well so that the initiative will not get stuck in the middle of nowhere because it’s a good initiative.
