George Kwabena Adu is a Ghanaian musician, guitarist, and an accomplished draftsman. His name, Kwabena Kwabena depicts the two vocations he is presently in, first as Kwabena, the draftsman, and Kwabena, the contemporary highlife musician.
On Wednesday, June 02, 2021, Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale uncovered one of his significant concerns relating to the Ghana music industry and what should be done to extend our gifts to the world.
In his State of the Industry Address, Shatta Wale asked that Ghanaian artistes need to recognize a classification that can be credited to all music works from Ghana. Similarly as Jamaica is notable for Dancehall, Nigeria notable for Afrobeat, and Americans are known for Hippop, Shatta Wale uncovered that he was asked in one of his interviews the sort of music Ghanaians do.
As per him, he just introduced himself as a Dancehall artiste from Ghana. He also added that he was was asked about the sort of music Ghanaians are notable for.
Well, It is as a result of this reason that the Legendary highlife artist, Kwabena has portrayed Shatta Wale as uninformed on the grounds that he needs to reexamine his notes to understand what Ghanaian performers are known for.
Addressing Abeiku Santana on Okay FM, Kwabena expressed that Ghanaians have consistently been known for Highlife and has been so since the start of music in Ghana. He said that most highlife performers get solicitations from outside the nation to proceed to play highlife music, so accordingly, Ghana has a special classification which is Highlife.
