Nine bodies have been retrieved from flooded galamsey pit by rescue team at Gbane in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region but unfortunately three more bodies have gone missing.
The police has confirmed that nine of the miners who were trapped in the galamsey pit were pronounced dead by medics. The miners were trapped after the pit they were working in three nights ago was engulfed by water following heavy rains.
Rescue team reportedly spent nearly 48 hours pumping water out of the underground mining tunnels trying to find the minners.
Recall that we reported days ago that some miners were trapped under a galamsey pit in the Talensi District following heavy downpour in the area hence flooding the pit they were working in.
It appears the nine predicted number is more than that as nine bodies have been retrieved but 3 more bodies are yet to be retrieved.
